Winergy Canada Inc. is based in Ottawa, Canada. It developed and
distributes the home energy audit software, EnergyWiz®.
Our Mission
To provide average Canadians with the tools and information needed
to become more aware of how energy and water is used, and misused,
in a typical home. We believe that when individual Canadians take
a proactive approach to energy efficiency we can meet the goals
set out in the Kyoto Accord.
EnergyWiz® History
EnergyWiz® was inspired in the mid-90s by an Ontario Hydro program
and provincial "green communities" initiative. These programs
saw a 40% participation rate, however, the potential energy savings
could not justify these large budget programs. It became clear that
for significant energy reductions to occur homeowners would have
to make a larger contribution. Winergy Canada developed EnergyWiz®,
software enabling Canadian homeowners to complete a comprehensive
self audit of their energy use.
Originally launched in 2003, the latest version of EnergyWiz®
addresses today's issues such as rising fuel prices and reducing
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to levels outlined in the Kyoto Accord.
Canadians have the information needed to decide which energy-saving
upgrades are most cost-effective and have the greatest impact on
reducing their GHG emissions. GE Consumer and Industrial purchased
100,000 EnergyWiz® CD's for distribution through retail stores
across Canada in October 2005.
President, John Elliott LEED AP
Elliott is a LEED accredited professional and mechanical engineering technologist working in Ottawa for over 19 years. His extensive background in energy efficiency
of buildings spawned the idea for EnergyWiz®. Having used many
technical energy analysis programs, Elliott’s goal was to
create a product that could easily be used by the average Canadian
yet had a powerful database to accurately assess energy and water
use.
